Summary
Hours and Days by Bruce Hasenyager is the autobiographical memoir of a 20th century man. The book is addressed to a Distant Reader, the authors future genealogical and cultural descendants and those just curious about the life of a modestly successful American who lived, worked, and loved during the turbulent period from World War II through the first decade of a new millennium. Highly personal and idiosyncratic, this book is written in the authors voice wry, articulate, and intelligent. It encompasses comedy and tragedy and reveals a man who is educated, traveled, and much married. The book is comprised of eight chapters, named for the liturgy of the hours, each covering roughly a ten year period in the authors 70 year life. Each chapter also contains an eclectic collection of photographs drawn largely from the authors family archive
